We all have inspirations, people and experiences that have helped us become who

we are.  I know I'm not alone in this world of art, life, love, travel and creation...

Jamaican singer, songwriter, guitarist, and Rastafarian

Bob Marley was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. The last Bob Marley and the Wailers tour in 1980 attracted the largest audiences at that time for any musical act in Europe.

Professor of Art at Eastern Connecticut State University

My work focuses on issues of identity. Which is nurtured by personal and collective references to my ancestral culture. Working in various mediums such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media installations gives voice to multiple layers of my identity. This binds me to my Neolithic past, as well as, my Indigenous and African Caribbean heritage.

Singer-songwriter, musician, filmmaker &  surfer

Being the son of a famous surfer in the islands, Jeff Johnson, Jack Johnson naturally had an interest in surfing. He began surfing at the age of ten and by the time he was seventeen he made the finals at the Pipe trial and became the youngest invitee ever to do so. Unfortunately, Jack suffered a surfing accident when he was seventeen. While recovering from the accident, he started taking up an interest in music.

"Right now, people ask me, 'What can one person do to change what's going on with the world?' I don't know what one person can do except to connect with other people. In doing that, each of us play our roles," he says. "My role is as a storyteller and a songwriter. I'm somebody who is trying to keep the spirits of other people up, despite all the chaos and fear around us".

Chef/writer/traveler

Dubbed "the bad boy of cuisine" for his rock-star look and blunt observations about the world of restaurants, chefs and cooking, Anthony Bourdain is not your typical celebrity chef. A 28-year veteran of professional kitchens, Bourdain is the Chef-at-Large at New York's famed bistro, Les Halles.

Accomplished musician/songwriter

Joe Barone, former front man and founder of the band “Incidental Bliss”, has been strumming the six string since the age of six. Born and raised in a small New England town, Joe often turned to music as an escape from the bland existence life sometimes had to offer. “Music has always been a place of refuge for me. When the world is dark, I close my eyes and create music…it is then that everything comes to light.”

"It's time to put an end to the say-anything-to-win politics of the past. Together we can face the challenges of the future with a new kind of politics and a new kind of leadership."

"I don't believe that climate change is just an issue that's convenient to bring up during a campaign. I believe it's one of the greatest moral challenges of our generation."
